Community-Based Prevention, Intervention, and Reunification

CBPIR is a multifaced community based program that is designed particularly for Prevention and Reunification services. Under these main objectives there are specific models of service, each slightly different in their eligibility criteria as to better meet the needs of all unique family dynamics. CBPIR is contracted to community providers who work directly with families in their counties.

CBPIR community providers are available in 30 New Mexico counties.

Programs

Community-Based Prevention, Intervention and Reunification or CBPIR provides five different programs at different levels of intensity

    Prevention Services

There are three prevention service models. Each of these provides case management, use of an approved parenting curriculum, and support access to available resources within the community.

    Family Support Services (FSS)

Referrals are accepted from any community partners, CYFD investigations, or self referral. While services available may vary based on the community served, CBPIR facilitators work directly with families to determine the best plan of action for their needs. Which may include but is not limited to: food and housing assistance, emergency funding, utility access, transportation, home-visiting, and much more.

    Secondary Prevention Services (SPS)

Similar to Family Support Services, Secondary Prevention Services works specifically with families who have at least one (1) child under the age of five (5).

    Intensive Family Support Services (IFFSS

IFSS model needs are identified using the Family Connections curriculum process. Each family participates in the evaluation of change survey, called the CASI. A Service Plan is developed and drives family goals. These families are typically referred from CYFD investigations.

    Reunification Services

There are two reunification service models, both provide case management, use of an approved parenting curriculum and support access to available resources unique to the community the family lives in. Reunification services support family preparation for a child(ren) to return to their home.

    Family Reunification Services (FRS)

CYFD Permanency Caseworkers refer families to this service when the investigation process is complete and the caseworker is then moving to help reunify the children with their parent, guardian or custodian.

    Time Limited Reunification ( TLR)

Although similar to Family Reunification Services, Time Limited Reunification provides a higher level of intensive case management and milestones. Referrals are from CYFD Permanency Caseworkers and this program identifies the specific needs of the family during a comprehensive family assessment. Services support the development of goals within a family plan to ensure child safety.
